⏰ Register for the DubsTech Datathon | Online Datathon Hackathon on May 18 & 19
Hello, DubsTech UW and the University of Washington iSchool are hosting the 5th Datathon, the online Data hackathon this May 18 and 19, 2024.
We're seeking participants who are passionate about data science, data visualization, and data analytics and hence would like to invite you to come apply your data skillset to real world problems.
You've spent hours in the classroom learning how to make BI reports, data visualizations and machine learning models. Now it's time to put them to the test.
It is a 100% beginner friendly data hackathon where coding is optional and is open to people of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, you're bound to have a great time applying your skills and making new friends.

FAQ
Can people outside of UW participate?
Anyone can participate! Though we are a University of Washington Registered Student Organization, this event is open to anyone of all skill levels - and it’s all free!
I'm new to Data Science & Visualization, can I participate?
Yep! Many of our participants are beginners, and we have many others coming from all different skill levels. If you want to learn a few data science tools before our event we recommend you watch our Tableau tutorials & Power BI tutorials on our Youtube channel.
Can I participate if I don’t know how to code?
Yes you can! You can use a no-code data science tool such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau instead. Previous participants have in fact won prizes using the same.
Do we need to form a team?
You can work alone, or up to teams of 5. Most participants choose teams of 3 to 5 members. You can make a team with your friends or use our find team channel on our Discord or join our team building session right after the opening ceremony on the day of the event. Note: If you choose to make a team before the event itself, ensure all of your team members are registered for the event.
Do I have to be at the Datathon throughout?
No, you only need to be present at the opening ceremony (9:00 to 10:00 AM) and the end of the event (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM). You can always feel free to ask questions to our team on Discord and we will be happy to support you.
Will I be able to come up with a solution if I don't have experience doing this before?
Yes! The challenges have been designed such that both beginners, as well as professionals, can attempt them and have an equal chance at winning
Are we free to use any program or coding language?
Yes. You are free to use any program of your choice as long as you can provide the final deliverable to us in a readable format be it a website, Github repo, Jupyter Notebook, powerpoint, etc.
Will we be able to keep any of the projects done to use for our portfolios?
Yes. You have made them and hence you rightfully have the right to keep it and use it in any form or format. We would appreciate a small mention of our club in the project description, but that is completely optional.
If you have already registered yourself then share it with a friend and ask them to join as well!
